Breastfeeding


One of the rare times my toddler was still enough to get a picture while nursing.
I don’t feel bressure but I feel a different type of pressure as a mother. Actually, I feel lots of different types of pressure. Pressure to potty train my child early, pressure to introduce solids early, pressure to helicopter parent, pressure to give my daughter whole milk, pressure to switch her carseat to a forward facing position, and pressure to stop breastfeeding her.

Under bressure? I understand.

Breastfeeding isn't always the best choice. And I say this because I trust women. I trust they'll make the right decision for themselves. Because they know more about their own circumstances than I do. Confession: I was a formula feeding mom And even though I am now breastfeeding a toddler, I still feel like getting a little defensive because I chose to formula feed 16 years ago. Even as I write this right now I want to justify my choice. I want to tell you why. I want to yell, "I'm not a bad mom!" More specifically, "I'm not selfish!"

Breast milk is better than formula but…
